Friday, February 5, 2010, marked the beginning of the 6th SWEEP (Smart Wireless Engineering Education Program) Innovation and Excellence Awards, which brought together Engineering students from 20 top universities and colleges from the country for a total of 90 entries with the theme "Empowering Communities Through Wireless Technologies."
This annual event is held as part of Smart Telecommunication's industry-academe partnership program that aims to raise the bar in engineering and technology education in the Philippines.
RedFox for its part provided the PC Systems and laptops used for the free internet surfing area. Other activities during the event included a mini job fair, interactive booth exhibits, and raffle draws, along with a quiz bee for partner institutions in the Smart Schools Program.
During the two-day event, the top 10 entries were on display, including SMART Karwats (an SMS-based Anti-Car Theft System with GPS Capabilities) and S-Mart.com (a means of promoting growth in community businesses), SMART Voting for Cleaner Elections, and Water Supply Management through Wireless Technology.
The 6th SWEEP Awards ran from February 5 – 6, 2010 at the A Venue Hall in Makati City.
